A team of archaeologists from the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ are involved in an exciting project to excavate the remains of ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµCastle. They hope to reveal its lost and colourful history; from highlighting its powerful position in the North of England to its use as a prison for Mary Queen of Scots.
But this is only the beginning. The excavations are central to a project to use archaeology to help regenerate the Castlegate part of the city.
